The Gingerbread Cottage and Cowshed! A great Family break or even a long weekend Break! A Rural, Historic & Sightseeing Holiday. Local Activities include: Swimming/Watersports, Walking, Golf, Fishing, Climbing, Horse Riding, Cycling/Mountain Biking & Zoo.
The Gingerbread House is situated in a quiet country lane sign posted ‘Rhoscefnhir’ overlooking fields. It takes about 10 minutes to get there once you cross either of the bridges. The village of Pentreath is just a couple of miles away. There you can buy virtually anything you will need for your stay. There are lots pubs and shops in the village.
The cottage gets its name from its use before it became a home and now tourist attraction. What started as a bakery, the cottage is infact over 200 years old. This makes the Cottage a real authentic Welsh property (built on gingerbread crumbs)!
The Property has been stylishly updated. The cottage features a walk in shower with toilet downstairs, right next to the downstairs bedroom so this bedroom is perfect for someone with creaky knees/hips.
The Cottage Comprises of a fully fitted kitchen, separate dining room and a cosy living room with a solid fuel stove (lovely and warm on those chilly evenings.)
- Upstairs there is a double bedroom with TV/DVD and king size bed and view over the countryside.
- The second upstairs room has twin beds. A travel cot and high chair are also available in the cottage.
- Wi fi is now available at the cottage. (free of course)
- The cottage has central heating throughout, a large private garden,
- lots of parking and is just a 10 minutes drive to the beach and Beaumaris.
*Pets are welcome (2 are included in the cost). They are reasonably safe as the garden can be secured, but of course we can never guarantee this but the lane is quiet. However you must be responsible for your pet. There are often sheep in the field over the road but it does have high hedges so I think its safe from would be ‘sheep dogs’
Not far from the cottage, little further along the main road is the sign for Red Wharf Bay, ‘The Ship’. pub is here and highly recommended with lots of outdoor tables. Feel Free to take your dogs, and sit in the sun. The Food is great, enormous fresh fish and chips!
There is also a lovely restaurant ‘The Old Boathouse’ in the bay. But like most places on the Island, you will need to book early to eat there.
Down the same country lane on your left, is the ‘St David’s Bay’ Holiday Park with the highly acclaimed restaurant ‘The Tavern’ with spectacular views and really good food. A must to visit, but BOOK early if you want to eat there. There’s also a children play area on this site which you can enjoy.
The Cottage is not far from the main town of Beaumaris with its many chic shops and restaurants. and there is the Castle to explore. or ‘crabbing’ from the pier with the children, my grandchildren love to catch the crabs. If you enjoy a long country walk then the cottage is the perfect base for this.
The Island is known for its beautiful beaches, amazing walks, art shops in the chic town of Beaumaris, lots top class restaurants (too many to mention) they are all Great! ones to look out for include: Dylan’s, Marran Grass, The Tavern, The Oyster Catcher, The White Eagle, all superb.
Activities included in the cottage is the Cowshed…great fun for the children in here, just buy them some paper and coloured pens/paint and let them paint a cow. There are some amazing results, and not just from the children.
The Cottage sleeps 6 in three Bedrooms and is yours for as little as £80 per night (depending on season. rates change depending on date booking). To Book Please go to http://www.theholidaylet.com
