Business entrepreneur ‘Danielle Westwood’ is opening a brand new specialist Gin bar called ‘Gin Lane’, situated on London Road, (next to Piccolino) within the next couple weeks. She will be having a grand opening on November 15 before opening to the public on November 16. Gin Lane has already started to cause a stir among gin lovers on social media and Danielle further wants Gin Lane to be a ‘third place’.
She tells us:
“We wanted to create a ‘third place’ what we mean by that is:
Third Place’s are where people congregate other than work or home, England has pubs/bars, France has cafés, and Austria has coffee houses, Third Place’s share common features:
•Firstly, they are neutral, meaning that people can come and go without penalty. If you don’t go to your third place for a few days or weeks, your return is greeted with interest and enthusiasm. Contrast that with work or home, where your eventual return after days of absence would be greeted with a pink slip or divorce papers.
•Secondly, they are level, meaning that the status differences that matter so much elsewhere are not relevant.
•Thirdly, conversation is the main activity in third places, and one of the few ways to offend others present is to be boring.
•Fourthly, third places are accessible, meaning that they have long hours and are easy to get to. No reservation needed!
•Fifthly and perhaps most critically, the dominant mood of a third place is light, laughter abounds. ‘Third places contribute to the life worth living’ With ‘Gin Lane’ we shall create a third place”
Danielle Westwood is a thirty two year old business entrepreneur & mother of two from Lymm with a First Class Honours degree in Business & Fashion Buying at Manchester Metropolitan University.
She is the sole owner of Gin Lane and there are no investors. Gin Lane is a family business and will be ran by her in person and her partner Jamie. The day to day running of the bar will be carried out by the couple inorder to ensure their ethos remains within Gin Lane far beyond the initial opening.
Danielle tells us:
“I always had the desire to raise my two young children to school age and then pursue a career for myself and so when my youngest started school I began exploring what I would like to do next for I wanted to incorporate my bubbly personality, love for design and of course love for gin.
Around a year ago to the day I will open Gin Lane I trekked the Inca Trail for The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust charity, it was during my fundraising that I began to envisage the prospect of opening a gin bar, I loved the event organisation side to the fundraising, along with meeting new people and seeing my ideas come in to fruition. ”
‘Gin Lane’ will be a quirky & comfortable gin bar with tasting experiences for the Gin lovers & delectable wines to suit the palettes of all ensuring this upmarket bar will become the desired place to frequent with loved ones & friends. The warm ambience, rustic meets industrial decor and mood lighting, along with specialist products & impeccable customer service will undoubtably endeavour to please.
Danielle States to us:
“We aim to provide a ‘cool but understated’ gin bar to cater to a niche in Stockton Heath……..Gin Lane is an experience!”
Gin Lane’s mission is be in effect two businesses in one, catering to the needs of both the Stockton Heath daytime clientele as well as providing a different experience for those who frequent the village in an evening looking for a quirky but comfortable setting to enjoy a drink or two with a partner or a catch up with friends. They will offer tapas style dishes such as hummus and pitta along with artisan cheese/ meats boards from locally sourced suppliers. Our ‘North West’ cheese board really is something else!
There will be solo acoustic guitar and saxophonist performances doing monthly residencies along with our day to day lounge/ jazz style background music.
Gin Lane has a unique gin list, rather than stocking your premium marketed gin brands, the owner Danielle has visited many local distilleries and met the founders of the small batch gins to create an exquisite gin list, we have a core gin list whose bottles have been incorporated in the decor of Gin Lane and will be involved in gin tasting events throughout the year. The core gins have been carefully chosen for their taste, their story and how they are distilled, bottled & labelled locally.
Danielle further explained to us:
“We are aware not everybody loves gin like me and thats why Gin Lane will have something to suit the tastes of everyone. Gin Lane will offer a range of quality wines, Prosecco, Cava, Champagne, a selection of spirits & liquors, real ale, draft lager, cocktails, soft drinks, specialist teas and freshly brewed Crosby Coffee.”
The grand opening on November 15 before opening to the public on November 16, so come down and enjoy a nice glass of Gin like no other.
